RedcoLite

Perlite sold to the Construction market is under the tradename RedcoLite.

These applications include lightweight aggregates in concrete and plaster, insulating concrete roof decks and loosefill masonry insulation.

RedcoLite Concrete Aggregate is an expanded perlite of medium density, meeting the requirements of ASTM C332, Group 1. Portland Cement mixes using RedcoLite Concrete Aggregate as the sole aggregate, or using RedcoLite combined with other aggregates have been designed to produce ultra-light concrete with dry densities from 22 lb. per cubic foot to 80 lb. per cubic foot; and compressive strengths from between 90 and 3,000 psi. The insulation value of RedcoLite perlite concrete increases dramatically as the density decreases. (Note: In most cases RedcoLite Plaster Aggregate may be substituted for RedcoLite Concrete Aggregate with equivalent results. Consult Redco II or your building material dealer for more information.)

RedcoLite perlite insulating concrete can be used with expanded polystyrene board to achieve two-hour fire-resistive and non fire-resistive roof decks. The RedcoLite Concrete Aggregate is mixed with Portland Cement (type I, II or III), air entrainment, and water. Wet densities should be approximately 40 pounds per cubic foot (plus or minus 2 pounds) and dry densities approximately 27 pounds per cubic foot (plus or minus two pounds) with a minimum compressive strength of 140 PSI. RedcoLite perlite insulating concrete with expanded polystyrene board in two-hour fire resistive and nonfire-resistive roof decks is approved by the City of Los Angeles (Research Report 23321) which is based upon the ICBO Evaluation Service, Inc. Evaluation Report No. 3536.
